Down By the River (Missed the Crossroads)

Down by the river

I met an angel so fine

I played her my songs

And dreamed that  she was mine

Down by the river

Where I played long before

That Angel smiled

And my faith was restored.

I played her some songs and she asked for more

Down by the river

On a hot august day

I liked the way she looked

and she liked the way I played

I sang songs about her beauty

And the color of her clothes

About long flowing hair

and cute little toes

Now I could live, I’d been dead for so long.

So many years, not one little song..
